ABCD: The land expansion of Rome had a very large impact on everyone in it. One of the reasons that Rome expanded was to gain a stronger, more powerful government. At the time Rome was smaller, and the emperor wanted to have control over more people. To do this they fought for the land and soon conquered many territories to add to their expansion. Another reason they expanded was for trade purposes. By gaining much new land, they also gained many new items, resources, and raw materials. A third and final cause/reason for Rome's expansion was a cause. A cause of their expansion was that their army grew much larger. This then gave the once small city-state the ability and power to defeat and take over mostly any other territory they wanted. In conclusion, these are three of Rome's causes/reasons for expanding.
